When Kathy posted her recent tribute to the great Vincent Van Gogh, I mentioned to her that his painting of the Irises was my favorite and that I had seen the original at The Getty Center in the hills of Los Angeles. I wanted to post some photos to share with Kathy and anyone else that might be interested. If you happen to visit the LA area, I highly recommend this beautiful museum. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the artwork and the gardens.

That was cool Bridget!
Geez, Atlanta's air looks like L.A.'s air now.
Hugs,

Whoa, that looks like a gorgeous place to visit!!!!!!
Justine :o )
While reading your blog today I noticed your picture and didn't know you were a royal! What a fun picture!
What a beautiful Museum. The architecture and grounds are awesome. (Great photography too Bridget.) Its about the 'little garden sculpture', the pose kind of reminds me of the Venus de Milo.
Thanks for sharing!!
Also wish to compliment you on your Still life painting. It is a real work of Art!!!! Watercolor I think has to be one of the most difficult mediums to work with. (It's so difficult to correct.) Hopefully you will share more of your wonderful talent.
Now, must read your 'shoe' blog again. (Still trying to get to Kathy's site, but its coming up Internet Explorer cannot open the site/operation aborted. Mmmmm) Appreciated you relaying my message(S) to her.
hey...thanks for the tour...just leaving now...so take care...see you when I get back!
Good Morning Brenda, I think I've found the problem to why you can't access Kathy's site and have left her a message with the information to fix the problem! Hopefully you will be able to visit her soon. In the meantime, feel free to leave messages to her here...I'm sure she will be by for a visit soon.
The museum is gorgeous. I wish it wasn't so far away....hmmm but come January sunny California is gonna look DANG good! Maybe I can trick my husband into thinking we're going there to see a football game!
Bridget, not only are you an angel but you are a genius!!! I FINALLY got into Kathy's site. (She must have taken your advice and fixed it. It wudn't even come up when I did a web search.)
Thank you soooooooooooo very much.

Wow, after looking at these pics, I really want to go there! It looks awesome and I love all the artistic touches and the architecture.
Did anyone ever tell you that your photos have a very professional quality to them? Especially that very first one of the curves of the building and its shadows. That is an extremely well done photo. The photos of Yosemite are of the same quality and could be in a magazine!
Kady
Hey Bridget, I have just got back and this morning I did not get time to log on, so I guess whatever it was that was causing my probs has been fixed, it was so annoying not being able to do anything last night, so I went over to RMS and found Dear G's site and had a wonderful tour.
I love your photographs, you have a talent and an artistic eye so am not surprised that your photo's look professional and The Getty does look amazing, we actually drove past it when we took Stephen to LA but he was more interested in going to see the Hollywood sign etc etc so we did not have time to go inside, I sulked of course and I would have sulked even more if I had known the irises were in there!!!!. haha. Thank you very much for relaying Mrs Ben's msgs, I am going to work on her bringing Jamie for a visit haha, maybe Hayley will just happen to be here also esp. now that Mrs Ben say's he is kind and polite haha. Mrs Ben certainly has a handsome family.
Well now I am back on-line I can get on with my next post. Thanks again Bridget, speak soon and thank you for this post, I love sculptures so I know I would love it at the Getty. big hugs, Kathy.
Kady thank you so much for the compliment...I wish I could take credit for that photo but I found that one on the museum's website! : (
Hi Bridget! Oh, I hope too the sitemeter thing will get fixed! You know, I could kick myself! I had the opportunity to go to this museum back a few years ago and decided not to. It's a beautiful place and thanks for sharing and making me feel bad for not going!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
I love scuplture! I wish I had the talent and or know how to do it! Those were beautiful photos...maybe someday I'll see 'em in person.
It's past midnight here, but just was over at Justine's and left her a message to visit Angelo's Blog (his 2nd most recent entry) since she was so da*n reluctant to go to Hugh's 115th B/Day Party when we were writing 'Our Story....' :D
Goodnight!!
Hi, Bridget--you are more than welcome to use the picture. Mister gives his permission (and a hug to Sophie), too. :-)
Love this little trip. Enjoyed the sculptures. I have tried to do small ones out of clay. Kathy
