Quilted With Love

I've wanted to paint a quilt for a long time now so while I was visiting my niece, I asked her which was her favorite quilt that she had made.  She chose the one that she made for her husband upon his retirement from the army.  I photographed the quilt on a black rocking chair and then ad libbed the background to resemble one her favorite lakes where she'd like to own a cabin someday.

I had thought it would be a great Christmas gift but she took ill so I sent it right away as a get well gift.  I think she will be hanging it in her sewing room where she keeps her quilting machine.

What an absolute treasure! This will certainly be treasured by her and become a family heirloom. Your talent truly amazes me and I'm not just saying that. When you said your niece had been ill I wondered if it was the one who quilted your blue and yellow quilt that I loved (see I do remember things!). I hope that she's on the mend now and doing well. Now she has a tangible reminder of how much she's loved by her special aunt. The coloring and shading is beautiful and you know what a weak spot I have for the beach and the ocean and the lake could well be an ocean in my eyes! Perfect and so tranquil to look at.
